Prestacycle redesigned the Presta Grommet in May 2012 to fit to modern standards. PRestacycle's design works so well, it’s been copied by others including major floor pump makers. To prevent poor shifting and uneven drivetrain wear, most manufacturers recommend chain replacement at or before 1% stretch. A worn chain shifts poorly and wears sprockets at an accelerated rate. Park Tool's Chain-Wear Indicator is a “go-no go” gauge designed to accurately indicate when a chain reaches .5% and .75%, the points at which most chain manufacturers suggest replacement.
